I don’t want to celebrate 4th of July anymore
In fact, I want to demonstrate the polar opposite. I want to burn flags. I want to parade the streets flying an upside-down American flag. I want to show our political “leaders” that I am no longer happy with our failing Democratic- Republic country. I won’t stand for the blatant corruption, lies, pointless war, stolen taxes, false idols, crumbling infrastructure, dwindling workforce, lack of healthcare, a grossly mistreated education system, economic divide & so much more. I won’t listen to the surveillance state being shoved down our throats, while being told to sit down shut up & take it. I can no longer sit inside and wait it out, while billionaire businesses move swiftly to buy out our government. I am sick & tired of being led to believe all my life that the USA is the greatest country I could have ever been born into, while the metaphorical walls of my metaphorical house begin to show signs of stress cracks that are becoming so hard to chase down & patch up. I was born here! I deserve a chance to speak up, and demand restructure for a system that is sick, and no longer works. I don’t want to leave. Even if I could, I’d much rather take the chance to make a real change.
I will not celebrate the birthday of a country that is actively abusing the very people that work so hard to keep the cog-wheels of the machine spinning.
Edit: To say Democratic-Republic along the first half of my paragraph. The people vote for an elected official to make decisions on their behalf.
It is both.
