feels weird knowing Michael Jackson is actually gone. No matter what music you listen to, you probably grew up hearing his songs somewhere. Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It... everybody knows them. Hi, I’ve been troubleshooting this for hours and I think I finally narrowed the issue down.

Environment:

• Windows 11 24H2
• Fiber internet in Turkey
• Discord web works perfectly
• Discord desktop app gets stuck on: “Checking for updates”
• Sometimes: “Update failed”
• Error codes:
  • 10054 ConnectionReset
  • 10060 timeout

Things I discovered:

• curl https://updates.discord.com eventually started working
• DNS issue was fixed
• Discord updater successfully downloaded and installed version 1.0.9236
• Logs say:
  • “Update to latest complete”
  • “Already up to date”
  • “Updater main thread exiting”

But after launching Discord:

• app still loops on update checking
• updater tries connecting to updates.discord.com
• then times out/reset again

Interesting part:

• WARP VPN works
• With WARP enabled, Discord can update
• Without WARP, it hangs again
• Discord web version works without issues

I also previously used:

• GoodbyeDPI
• ByeDPI DLL
• SplitWire/WireSock

So maybe something involving DPI bypass / WinDivert / fiber ISP filtering is interfering with Discord’s new updater.

Has anyone seen this exact issue recently with the newer Discord updater system? Especially on fiber ISPs or in Turkey?
