A friend has a HRR216 TDA mower from what seems to be the late 90s. Machine is in good shape, but will have some transmission issues where it completely cuts out. Was wondering if there is a downloadable copy of the shop manual for this machine. Honda part is 61VG3600.

Appreciate any leads. Thanks!

Recently did maintenance on the mower - new belt, oil change, blades, etc.

Mower moves fine on flat or very gentle slopes, but when going up a hill it starts fine but then loses momentum about half way up. Once we get to a gentler slope, it's fine.

Changing to a faster speed gets me up the hill ok, but it still slows down.

Tires are almost new. No leaks on the hydro unit. Am I due for a hydro service?

So... one of my neighbors had a HRX217 with the GCV200 motor that was recalled. Since they never registered it, they didn't know. And since they have no clue about basic maintenance, they locked it up.

I thought perhaps the cam gave way, but as I was tearing it down I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. A little debris in the motor, but nothing crazy. Cylinder wall is clean, rings looks good, no issue removing connecting rod, no bent pushrods and governor is intact. The oil seal is damaged - don't know if it was compromised by years of neglect and gunk or...

Bottom line... I can't free up the crank to remove it. No rotation, tapping with a dead blow doesn't move it a bit. Everything points to a salvageable motor, so I'm taking care to curb my inclination to beat the piss out of it.

Appreciate any thoughts on how to safely get this crank out?

I have an older HRX217 hydro with blade brake and 190 motor. Hydro is toast, but motor is good.

I have access to a newer HRX217 with a blown 200 - hydro/blade brake as well.

I confirmed crankshaft length matches. Any downside to swapping the motor out?

Thanks in advance!
