dislike the "Cannibal" perk as much as i do? here's "Courser Renegade" to use instead.

i've been avoiding filling-out my perk chart because i just could not bring myself to spend my remaining ranks in "Cannibal."

rootin' around in the Creation Kit, i saw the "Courser Commando" and "Courser Gunslinger" perks, the "Courser" accuracy perk some PC players have used to enable a .0 accuracy cone, and the "Cyborg" ability... all cut from the release version.

and now the benefits of these have been revived and blended-together in a perk that replaces "Cannibal" that is enabled upon completion of "Hunter/Hunted":

this is my 4th mod.

Very Special Soup - for those tired of SPECIAL book glitch-hacks

over time, although it works, i've grown more and more weary of the the scrap-store glitch and mods that facilitate repeat use of the You're SPECIAL! book... especially losing track of which stats i boosted amidst countless repetition of the "pick a stat" dialog... i kept asking myself, "what if the special book... wasn't a book at all?"

and now i've answered that question:

https://creations.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/details/fa597db4-5b44-4a3f-8b1c-bc1d5fa31dbc/Very_SPECIAL_Noodles

it's an ESL, i've tested it on playstation. should be groovy elsewhere. i welcome feedback and bug reports.

this is my 3rd mod.

"Crates of the Past" (an alternate path for "Echoes of the Past")

i've always been a bit peeved that i was never able to start "Echoes of the Past" and after reading that others had also encountered this notorious bug, i decided to do something about it...

https://creations.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/details/6cbed4d3-c45e-47c9-9c2b-020b8a73c522/Crates_of_the_Past

doesn't actually fix the bugged quest, but does allow you a different route to obtain the rewards from it.

this is my 2nd mod. ESL, multi-platform testers welcome. (i've tested on ps4)

feel free to help me field-test my 1st mod! This is a gently-modified version of The Deliverer, so that it uses the most common ammo type, deals higher base & critical damage, with improved range. (i adjusted key stats to about 1.5x their previous values.)

will be updating this in the near-future using xEdit/FO4Edit so it's a smaller install, but otherwise it's already an ESL. have already tested in on ps4 (and was amazed to find my weapon exactly where i "left" it), and i'm looking for input from those on xbox and pc.

an update to my prior post and (and cross-post) about converting kellogg's abandoned apartment into a player home for myself...

after some number of in-game days, i returned to find that the game had seemingly quite-arbitrarily respawned some of the objects (and yet, weirdly, none of the loot). so... if you also do this, be aware that the jack stand, small table, diagnostic cart, shelving, upstairs table (but not the dresser), cinderblock wall, candles and wax (on the dresser, which will now be floating in mid-air if you scrapped it) and all of the paper & trash on the floors... will magickally reappear... oh well, time to rebuild, i guess. (so i did.)

relevant mods/creations used:

  • The Survivalists Toolbox by AndrewCX -- for Encampment Workbench
  • Neon Flats -- i purchased CC content a la carte (i wasn't at all interested in most of it), but you already have this if you purchased Anniversary Edition or the CC bundle for the next-gen update
  • Neon Flats TV by RogueUnicorn -- self-explanatory
  • Fusebox Generator Plus by CrayonKit -- i've used these in all of my settlements
  • Custom Crafting Stations by OICTOOTP -- really useful in so cramped a space to be able to provide myself with a chem, armor, and weapon station on a single table
  • MIA Missed in Action by LosstarottArt -- i had been using Institutionalized - Institute Workshop Items by Eyeseezya and have come to prefer MIA... it adds new objects to your workshop menus as reach/cross certain discovery/quest milestones, and that's just a really fun dynamic... and there's more on offer here than just stuff from The Institute, without being overwhelming
  • Colored Workshop Lights by A6addon -- just for one orange-tinted industrial light here, but i've started to make use of this one in other settlements; a simple mod that delivers on its promise of adding a splash of color
  • SwaPA + Place Anywhere Tool by tim-timman and registrator2000 -- i was a skeptic but now i'm a believer
  • OCDecorator by Ethreon -- ditto.
  • PhyLight and PhyDark (192) by Phylith -- bye bye interior fog, hello dramatic contrast... i had previously used Enhanced Lights and FX by evheil but it was a bit too dark for my tastes and PhyLight performs a bit better on my original-generation ps4
  • Scrap That Settlement by 3lric -- though, i didn't re-scrap anything this time around (and a lot of the respawned objects cannot be scrapped)

aesthetic changes that made sense to me this time around... a terminal, a ham radio on the desk, an oxygen tank upstairs... because battle-hardened operator... you might ask "why the nixie tube?" to which i reply "why not?"

regrettably, i did not have any san francisco sunlights handy to leave on the desk or in the kitchen.

if, like me, you've encountered the infamous bug whereby you use the terminal to move the crucible and it, in fact, does not move, here's what (much to my own surprise) worked for me:

  • proceeded up until the point of the bug
  • threw down a campfire/workbench (i use The Survivalists Toolbox)
  • scrap the cart & crucible (i was only able to do this with Brute Force Scrapper installed)
  • quest updates As If you'd moved the cart & crucible
  • retrieve the flame resistant power armor leg mods
  • modify the PA with the mods
  • retrieve the heavy incinerator
  • success

if you're also unlucky enough as to have a PA spawn with one or no legs and don't feel like fast-traveling home and back (i sure didn't), you may also:

  • disable/uninstall the 'deep scrap' mod you're using (like BFS)
  • install/enable Scrap That Settlement (or other 'lightweight' scrapping mod)
  • highlight & retrieve the heavy incinerator into your campfire/workbench
  • retrieve the weapon from your campsite/workbench
  • quest completes

once the crucible is scrapped, the area is left with a bit of molten metal just hangin' out in mid-air but... whatever.

bugged quests demand ridonkulous solutions.

p.s. you can even skip over the PA mods, to storing the weapon in your campfire/workbench, get it from there to complete the quest, but i wanted the mods anyway to attach to my "plaid" raider PA that has a collection of other mods/pieces from other quests/npcs.

upon switching from "Make Static - Decorator Tool (discontinued)" (tim-timman) to "OCDecorator" (EbokianKnight / Ethreon) i decided to give this corner collection o' stuff a re-do with some flair, and to add newly-acquired items from The Institute...

for the most part, things 'sat' correctly but i did have to post-glitch the quantum and pie... and the institute tools proved the most challenging, since they sink below the level of the shelf... i had to: put them on a shelf, put the shelf on a dummy wall outside, scrap the shelf so they'd drop to the ground, scrap the wall, place a post near them, group select them, and glitch them near a new shelf... most still 'hover' above the shelf, but it's 'close enough'... then i had to post-glitch the recorder and applicator individually (rose 'too high' and 'too low' respectively)

i like how the recorder points right at whoever's sitting in the chair... a happy accident.

and why, yes, that is the scorched husk of my reflector platform and beam emitter just outside the window.

p.s. maybe someday we'll have "Place Anywhere" on Playstation. i won't hold my breath... anyone given the combination of "SwaPA" (also by tim-timman) and "Place Anywhere Tool" (registrator2000) a try? i'm skeptical.

^^ edit: just tried SwaPA + PA Tool... umm, yeah. that's some powerfully-dark magick... have little to no clue what the other items in the special menu it adds do, but the PA Tool by itself definitely works for placing OCD items wherever you want them, without having to navigate object collision with the warehouse misc post and/or power conduit by the 'traditional' method.

a cannibalistic raider? a human former employee turned ghoul? i wonder.

truly great work by glasswitch on this... a very-well-designed player home within Acadia (Far Harbor) that you can customize, and also provides very convenient, instant travel from Hangman's Alley...

how does a floor hatch next to your workbench in Hangman's Alley transport you instantly to the deepest sublevel of Acadia? don't worry about it! why let four in-game hours pass to fast-travel from Hangman's Alley to Far Harbor docks, then to Acadia... when you can be there faster than an Institute Courser?

as far as the 'room' itself goes, it's just... really beautiful. top-notch, tasteful use of the vanilla game assets... you have to see it for yourself. (and it's a relatively-tiny install, to boot.)

p.s. there's small-ish but useful gift waiting for you there but i won't spoil it 😺

if you're looking for a fun little 'bottle episode' as a diversion from... probably too much settlement building while Not looking for your son... give "Concussion" by greggorypeccary a go.

by the same creator:

  • "Egret's Secret"
  • "Jamaica Overland Express"
  • "Sunshine Township a tragedy"

i also installed and played through the first 2 of those 3 (the last edits Sunshine Tidings Co-Op and i've already built there, so)... but by far, i found "Concussion" to be the most fun... a truly unique experience... i refuse to spoil it by even attempting to describe it. "if you have to ask, you'll never know" (angelica pickles)... and i'm beyond-impressed at the technical achievement involved.

as far as i can tell, there's no unique loot in these, so probably safe to uninstall/delete after getting the goods (?) -- though, if you want a well-designed store location & trader in Jamaica Plains, keep that one around.

nice work, greggorypeccary.

TL;DR saved me hours of replaying from an older save...

upon starting vault 81's "hole in the wall" quest, since i'm also running "Useful Technical Documents" [bionicyardiff], i was far less careful than in previous playthru's since i thought to myself "no problem, i'll be able to achieve max affinity with curie and synthesize my own dose of the cure for molerat disease"... did the quest, friendmaxxed curie, politely sent her to her new home, got back to sanctuary and my chem bench and... whoops.

didn't realize i also had to romance curie to be able to do this... then i remembered seeing "Companion Romance Knife" amidst other mods i saw while "perusing the catalogue"... obtained it, gave curie a gentle prodding with cupid's switchblade and... voila... molerat disease cure unlocked... really glad to avoid having to replay hours of questing, wandering, crafting, etc.

so i checked out other mods by [LGBSHI]...

had already been thoroughly enjoying "Ultimate Jetpack Ring" -- it's incredible what the devs left behind on rooftops throughout the commonwealth that would never be seen by most players.

might use "NPC Eraser" to 'humanely' clear nordhagen beach, if i never get a settler alert to assist them (i'm level 225 and still not a peep from those three)... intrigued at the prospect of using "NPC Invincibility Knife" to make my settlements 'evergreen' -- though i'm a bit nervous that if i do this it could result in a 'suspected synth' and other settlers starting a fight that never ends.

have just tested "Detection Shades" and, wow... this is better than the "living and corpses" targeting HUD offered by ECO/LEO/NEO [DankRafft]... and i don't have to draw my weapon to enable it (i get nervous i'll misfire while dragging a body)... larger, cleaner highlighting that appears through walls and over/behind hills... and a big purple cloud around corpses awaiting looting; perfect... will definitely be switching between these and my patrolman sunglasses when 'cleaning up' after attacks with "Running with Corpses" [ParasiteX] and "Scrap That Settlement - Living & Dead" [3lric].

will give "Spawn Settlers" grenades a try when i grow weary of waiting for settlers to show up at my one 'recruitment' location (the castle)... i know other mods like "USO Unlocked Settlement Objects" [AndrewCX] give the ability to 'build' settlers but this is a tidy, small mod and (seems to) work as advertised.

thanks to "Never Drink Standing Water" never again will i be annoyed at drinking dirty water when i intended to pick up a piece of submerged scrap or loot a mirelurk spawn as it drifts away.

adding "Not Junk - BoS Holotags & Synth Components" because, well, i collect those and wish not to accidentally scrap or sell them... especially now that i need synth chips to use with "KCI Kellogg's Cybernetic Implants" [LossTarottArt].

the "Holotape of Quest-Fixing" mods might help you out with a 'bugged' quest that can't be finished by other means... and "Walk Through Walls" could work where the infamous power armor enter/exit clipping glitch doesn't, to retrieve a skill mag or other item that found its way into the backrooms.

so yeah... great job on these, LBGSHI... keep up the amazing work. also, kudos to the other mod authors mentioned above; you're all making this a game well-worth continuing to play in new and interesting ways.
