Mortars are underutilized

Let’s start with two reasons I’ve seen people mentioning for not using mortars:

  1. In order to use mortars, you need to reach a pretty high rank, which takes quite a lot of time, and even then, it costs quite a lot of supplies.
  2. It is not accurate enough, and the chance of getting kills with it is pretty low.

My perspective:

You are free to disagree with me, but I think the way supplies and ranks are being handled is very flawed. I understand that in order to get balance, there have to be compromises. I will not act like I have some kind of magic solution. But people on this sub always say to me, "think of arma less as a game, and more as a battle simulation." Well, artillery, which mortars are included as part of, is an integral part of battle. Saying you do not have artillery in a real life scenario is a really crippling issue and a huge disadvantage.

I am not american, so I do not know what the american doctrine is. But where I am from, we have something called "softening the target". You do not engage a point of contention without artillery softening it first, after it has been confirmed there are no civilians in the area.

So what do I suggest? I know it is a completely different game with completely different emphasis on different aspects. But in squad, they figured out how to balance artillery. It is effective, but it is not overpowered. It is intense, but it does not cause too many performance issues. In squad, you cannot win without artillery.

I am not suggesting that arma become squad, but I do want the game to take inspiration from the positive aspects of its counterpart and leave the negative aspects behind.

In the meantime, do you know of any EU servers where mortar enthusiasts have a place?

Someone though I said the N word, so he kept teamkilling me.

Hey guys, I know the sub is a bit overflowing with posts about racsim these days, but my situation is a bit different. I found myself for the first time on the side that's being accused of being racist, and I swear, I'm innocent.

So, my friend and I are both from romania. Naturally, when we speak between ourselves, we default to romanian. We always love to coordinate with people and we do not care where you are from and what your skin color is.

My friend and I were talking in romanian. My friend told me that he's getting tired, I told him to hurry up and make himself a black coffee. He said that he doesn't like black coffee. Then a guy came up to us, called us racist russians, and shot the hell out of us. Dude, romanian doesn't even sound like tussian...

You probably wonder why I'm telling you this nonsense. In romanian, black coffee is "cafea neagră", I understand why someone would think we're saying the N word, but we're really not. I assume there's some connection between "neagră" and the N word, I don't know, I'm not a linguist. But that's our language. I can't just make other words up.

This guy accused us of saying the N word. when we tried to explain the situation, he said that we are lying and that we're too much of pussies to admit what we said.

Honestly? We started laughing uncontrollably, he just shouted and kept killing us over and over. Eventually, he got kicked out of the server.

I think we should all calm down and try to listen to each other a bit better.
