Went to the store to try Helix Midnight Luxe but ended up liking Purple more. Am I crazy?

After doing some research, went to a few local stores today to try out mattresses. Helix Midnight Luxe is usually near the top of reviewer's lists so we found a store to try it but weren't very impressed. It was less firm than we were expecting, but even ignoring that it was just kinda ok. They also had the Twilight luxe but that was definitely too hard. We tried the elite version of both which were each a little nicer but still not really what we wanted. Unfortunately they didn't carry the Dusk or Helix Plus which are in-between.

We tried BeautyRest Black, Carrington Chase, Sealy, Stearns & Foster and Tempur-Pedic and found some that were pretty nice. One of the stores had Purple, which I know gets hated on pretty hard on Reddit, but we tried it and found it was equal or better than everything else we tried. Even the cheapest level without any coils, the PurplePlus, felt equal or better than anything else.

Why does Purple get hated on so much? Does it not hold up after some time? It felt really great in the store. Their most expensive one (which was way too expensive) was the most comfortable thing i've ever laid on but was way too much. Can anyone talk me out of Purple?

FYI, some of our favorites were: Stearns & Foster Studio Medium Tight Top, Carrington Chase Midnight Cove Medium Hybrid and a Sealy Medium Hybrid that I forgot to take a picture of the model.
