Is Cerritos walkable? Allow for car-lite living?

Cerritos was recently recommended to me as a place to consider for my family, given the high quality schools and the fact that it MIGHT be somewhat walkable (These are our top two desires for a place to live) On paper it looks pretty borderline. Perhaps just barely walkable in the right spots. What are your thoughts?

We would have no commute...just need to get my kids to school and get Asian food for the family haha. Would we be able to live car-lite, only needing a car for special trips and not on a daily basis? Or would we literally be the only people trying to walk around the neighborhood for necessities?

Just trying to see if I should bother to investigate further or not. Thanks!

Recommendations for visit

We will be stopping by in July to check out South Pas with the idea of potentially moving in a couple of years. Kids are 10&8. What do you recommend that we see/do to get a feel for the neighborhood?

We’re interested in South Pas for the good schools and the walkability so would be mostly focused on the central area roughly from the middle school up to Mission and over to the light rail station.

Thanks for any tips and advice!

Hiii I just received a few questions in another post asking about our experiences and I feel like I’ve typed out too many of the same long answers, so why not create an AMA that I can point to if this ever comes up again! Bear with me as I’ve never done an AMA before and maybe this isn’t even the best use case, sorry!! I set the start time for now and end time for 24 hours from now, but I plan to just keep answering questions as long as there are more. If you’re interested in my music you can go to my profile. I just started releasing original music again.
