Lifespans

Hello everyone, back again asking for thoughts. Right now this is the custom lifespan I play with:

Newborn: 2 days
Infant: 5 days
Toddler: 28 days
Child: 56 days
Teen: 49 days
YA: 35 days
Adult: 245 days
Elder: 35 days

Generally I don't mind it, but it's calculated off of 1 year = 7 days, which means I'm pretty much aging everybody up at the start of every year like they were all born on new years, otherwise keeping track of birthdays is just too annoying. Not a big problem for older sims, but when I have a baby close to the end of the week and have to age them up to toddler almost immediately so their age for the game fits with their age in terms of the challenge, it kinda sucks. Turning aging off wouldn't help either because I'd still be needing to age them up too quick to actually get to enjoy their baby stage.

I was considering lengthening my lifespan to have it so I update the year for the challenge every actual sim year (so when all 4 seasons go by since I have seasons), but I'm looking at like an irl year or two of straight gameplay to complete that depending on if I go with 7 or 14 day seasons.

Does anyone here play with super long lifespans like that? Or does anyone have a better way of dealing with the birthdays thing? I don't really want to check every day of the week if somebody has a birthday because that doesn't seem fun for me, but using holidays to track it like I want to would fill up the calendar too much if I don't lengthen the years

Does anyone bother spacing out the kids in your families? Particularly in the earlier parts of the challenge.

From what I could find realistically people weren't getting pregnant right away after having a baby since breastfeeding acts as a contraceptive sorta, and I do have my lifespans long enough to be able to allow me to do that without being too rushed to get some surviving kids. However the game doesn't have that kind of mechanic even with mods, so part of me just wants to not hardcore try for another right away, but if it happens let it.

What does everyone else tend to do? Do the women of your guys saves get a break or is it right back to business for them?
