Automatic/Semi-Automatic Turntable Recs

Hello all -

Appreciate in advance your insight & expertise. I'm looking for an automatic or semi-automatic turntable to upgrade from my very entry level AT LP-60x. It has served me well for getting into the hobby, but now that I'm more invested I'd like to step up to something more.

Primary priorities for me include:

  • Automatic or semi-automatic (I'm fine with manual start, but need something that will at least stop rotation at the end of a side)
  • Reasonably upgradeable
  • Robust enough to last for the foreseeable future

Now that we have that out of the way, I'll tell you a little about my current setup. I'm not really looking to upgrade anything here any time soon as everything is new.

  • Fosi X5 Phono Preamp
  • Klipsch R50-PM speakers
  • Klipsch R-120SW subwoofer

I'm not locked into a specific brand, so I'm open minded from that perspective. What I do not want to do is try the used route. I know that's a popular suggestion, but I just don't really have the time or inclination to search the marketplace only to end up with something that may need work. I also do NOT care about bluetooth capability.

My initial budget is probably around $600, though I could be willing to go a little higher if necessary. I know this price range may result in a somewhat "stock" cartridge to start, which is why I felt important to mention that I want something that is reasonably upgradeable.

Some of the options I've seen in this range:

  • Denon DP-400
  • Dual CS329
  • ProJect A1.2
  • Fluance RT85

Are one of these the play? Is there something I'm missing? Am I annoying you all with the millionth "What should I buy?" post? (I did read the guides, if that helps my cause.)

I'm open to any/all suggestions and feedback for my next step in this adventure.
