Gym not honoring 18-month membership promotion
I enrolled at Crunch in 2025 and paid for 12 months upfront to take advantage of a promotion that offered an additional 6 months free (18 months total). This was published on their website/printed materials and mentioned by several membership staff.
But as soon as my Crunch account was created, I saw the membership expiration date was in 12 months. After several calls/emails between June-September 2025, they confirmed in writing that my membership was valid for 18 months and the contract would be updated after they resolved a “back end issue.”
We’re now nearly at the 12 month mark and my account still hasn’t been updated. I’ve replied to the thread every month or two and have barely gotten responses, including from the general managers at my local locations. At this point, I’d be happy with either a formal extension or a refund for the 6 months excluded from my contract ($500).
How should I handle this from here? Is it worth filing a chargeback for undelivered services if they cancel my membership after 12 months? Is there somewhere else I should reach out to try to get this resolved?
