Finished the Crippled God last week - question/discussion of the one scene that baffled/intrigued me the most (MAJOR SPOILERS, PLEASE DON'T READ UNLESS YOU'VE FINISHED MBOTF)
>!Quick Ben '# !<character reveal in the Crippled God at the very end of chapter two is dripping with mystery. From what I can tell, he is interacting with Mother Dark. And it would stand to reason it is regarding the deal he struck with Rake and Hood?
When I first read this scene, I predicted that Quick Ben had collected another soul: that being Rake's. I remember Rake pulling Ben aside all the way back in MOI and Ben being vague about he and Rake's private conversation. & Even seems, the way he is addressing who I assume is Mother Dark, that he's talking to her as would a character who has a full grasp on the relationship between Rake and MD. & The reason I made this mental prediction (truly the only prediction I made throughout the whole series besides Traveller being Dassem) is because it all seemed to somewhat line up. & Because this scene is so vague in general.
But if it were the case that Ben had taken on Rake's soul upon his death, I would imagine that at some point in this book, that revelation would be revealed in some dramatic fashion. & So it doesn't seem to be the case. & Would Fiddler have access to Rake's ghost in the epilogue if Rake is beyond "Whiskeyjack's gate"? Or maybe it's still a read and find out moment? I have only read the 10 book of the fallen books. I guess I'm wondering how other people interpret this scene in particular, and the whole 'deal' in general? I posted the scene in pictures here so y'all can easily re-read.
