I'm considering ICL Surgery in the next few years and trying to absorb as much information as I possibly can.

How do I find the most qualified surgeons close to me?

What are the important questions that I should be asking when I go for my consultation?

I live in Lansdale, Pennsylvania so if anyone local can recommend a great surgeon that would be awesome.

For all you high myopia folk, it is possible to get larger frames made and not look terrible!

I just found a local independent optician who does all the lens cutting in house by 1 guy.

I was nervous picking out such large frames but he assured me that he could absolutely make them look and work for my prescription.

I just picked them up today and I am blown away by how thin and light they are for a -9.00.

I've always been so self-conscious in glasses for years.

I always felt like I needed to pick out the frames with the smallest lenses possible which also cut down on my overall viewing window which I couldn't stand.

I see amazing out of these glasses, clearer than I've ever seen out of any previous pair that I've had.

If you have a high prescription, it is absolutely imperative to find a local optician who knows all the tips and tricks for getting the lenses as thin as possible in addition to the clarity.

If anyone local sees this, I put the optician I got them from below.

I picked out new glasses at America's Best and they set the PD of the glasses at 30.5mm for each eye.

They chose this PD using an iPad instead of a pupillometer.

When I asked the lady to measure my PD so I had it on file, she used a pupillometer and the measurements came out as

Right 31.0 mm

Left 29.5 mm

This more accurate measurement was done after my glasses were made and I went in to pick them up.

When I put the glasses on, they just don't seem right.

Things look a bit wonky when I move my head at all.

I tried wearing them for a few days since they said I would have to adjust to new glasses and it hasn't gotten better.

When I put my old glasses on I don't have any of the issues of wonkiness or distortion.

The lady at America's Best said to me that such little difference in PD shouldn't make a difference but reading online about how it is critical for higher prescriptions, which I have, I think this is causing issues for me.

Can anyone shed some light on this and/or the formula opticians typically utilize for determining how important PD is?
