PSA: be VERY careful when screwing in the rear cover screws
A while ago I swapped SSDs in my Ally X with one of my other computers (needed a larger SSD for a work project.) Earlier this week I noticed cracking on both sides of the Ally X, as well as near the bottom middle screw on the back plate. My guess is that I screwed in the rear screws a little too tight, and this put stress on the plastic (the places where the plastic cracked are near the screw holes.) The crack on the left side of the device was particularly bad, it caused the L1 mounting post to break, leaving me with a very annoyingly loose and floppy L1. Unfortunately you can't just replace the front case alone, you have to buy a new LCD along with it. (the LCD is bonded to the front case) Cost me a grand total of $200 + shipping and an afternoon's worth of time to perform a full case swap (not particularly difficult to do, just very, very tedious and involves lots of tiny little parts and screws.) A somewhat pricy lesson, but at least it's cheaper than a new device, especially with today's ludicrous prices. So don't be me, be very careful when reassembling your device, especially when screwing in the back cover. (Actually be very careful when screwing in ANY screw on the device, some of the internal screw posts are pretty thin and would probably break pretty easily.)
