Olivia Rodrigo made a surprise appearance at a small venue show and performed potentially her 2nd single from her upcoming album and the attendees described it as “the saddest song of her career”
Based off the people that heard the song they described it as deep, intense, very sad, and ballady. One also said it has themes of begging for someone to stay and yearning. Weyes Blood delivered backing vocals too, but it’s unclear if she’s on the actual song or not, but I’d say likely since Olivia has had other artists for backing vocals before like Chappell. Also forgot to mention, but someone also said it has very beautiful harmonies. I think we can see this song being performed on SNL next week before it releases. I’m getting major “Call Out My Name” by The Weeknd vibes based off the description of this song because incase y’all didn’t know before The Weeknd made his project “My Dear Melancholy” he had a “happy” album before breaking up with Selena Gomez, but after the breakup it led him to scrap the entire project and work on “My Dear Melancholy” instead. Now how does this have anything to do with Olivia? Well this album she’s dropping soon gives similar vibes with a breakup part of a project, but this time flipping it by not scrapping everything, but making two sides to the project with the “girl so in love” side, the songs she made while she was with Louis and the “you seem pretty sad” side, the post breakup songs like I mentioned in my theory before the album title even came out you can read it here if you like https://www.reddit.com/r/OliviaRodrigo/s/dun0toadrG
It so far seems the theory is looking very accurate and I think this next single will be between track 7-11 in which we have the “sad” post breakup side of the album. I’m more leaning towards it being track 7 since I think this could be the major climax shift moment like I mentioned in my theory. Also forgot to mention there are no videos of this performance because recordings weren’t allowed during the show.
