I am designing a magazine on Indesign and am trying to figure out what to make the margins / gutter. A couple questions.

1. what should the margins be? Right now .5 (Top), .75 (Bottom), .8 (Inside), .5 (Outside).

2. Should all text fall within the margins? And should every article start at the same height on the page (at the margin) / should they all hit the same margin on the side too? Or can they vary as long as they dont go outside the set margin.

3. Should all columns be the same size / should there always be the same space between columns?

I am using Adobe InDesign 2026 and have had a spinning rainbow ball every few seconds. Have tried reverting back to older version, resetting preferences, reimporting the file as Indd... working on a deadline and don't know what to do! Any help appreciated :)
