Uglyness in politics (A quick examination of why we are cooked)
After the 1st televised US presidential election, we have had no president under 6 feet tall or 183 centimeters, with the exception of the average height 5’9½” (1.77m) Jimmy Carter. It’s also the reason JFK won, simply look at his face.
Personally, I think if a 5’3” ugly saint of a man, with a masters degree in political theory, the personality of Steve Rogers and rich experience as a gubernatorial assistant for 15 years and an actual rags to (relative) riches story with zero scandals
Vs
An inexperienced rich kid with scandals galore and a publicly known coke addiction but is 6’3” (1.90m) and handsome, he would win, even getting votes from the other side. Straight landslide victory. New record probably. He could use brutal, inappropriate inkwell terminology in the presidential debate and the audience would cheer for the Attractive guy.
“Nice argument, but Notre Dame called, they want their hunchback back“ [audience laughter]
This goes for all other countries as well. Clavicular said (bear with me, I don’t like him either) that he would vote for Gavin Newsom, simply because of his status as (h@d and because of Vance’s supposed “subhuman status”. Not trying to glaze anyone but Vance has a full head of hair, blue eyes and is 6’1½” (1.86m), he is far from cooked, objectively speaking.
Clav revealed something important though; MANY people (even my own family) would rather have a hot, tall guy in government than a qualified ugly/short guy.
The left and right claim to be the last hope for civilization as we know it, while ruthlessly mocking politicians for their physical shortcomings.
Politics will always be a Game of Bones. We are politically homeless. Have a good day.
