I understand that my need for solitude may be an extreme reaction from being hurt in the past, as a self-defence mechanism. BUT… I also think that remaining in romantic or platonic relationships that make you feel unwanted is also an extreme reaction and fear of sitting with your own thoughts, and ultimately a distraction from the reality of our own mortality.
To me, spending time with or (god forbid) sharing a house with someone I don’t feel safe with is completely nuts, but others find it normal. Everything we do in life is a coping mechanism to get us through the day, no matter the route.
I am just glad that no one is annoying me (and I’m not annoying anyone else) by choosing the route of solitude.
