Although Nina has a vaginal prolapse, she’s the friendliest, sweetest girl. She was eager to come outside and do her potties so I leashed her up and took her out. She was easy to walk on the leash and all tail wags. Watch her videos in the comments.

📝 Shelter Notes:

Dog greeted me at the front of the kennel with an open mouth, soft eyes, and loose wiggly body and tail. Easily leashed, but very energetic, walking with a tight leash outside to the runs. Very vocal outside in the runs especially when people pass by. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

Approaching kennel, the dog was standing in front of door with a neutral body. Once I put the leash on the dog, she started pulling forward on the leash while walking her to the dog run. Tossed treats but was not interested in them. In the kennel she started to get vocal.

🚑 Medical Notes:

Clean and dry kennel during observation, BAR at the door. Leashed and walked dog out to exercise runs. While off leash she squatted to urinate twice, and defecated. Stool firm, and normal in color. Began to play bow with me, and jump up on my legs. Leashed and returned to kennel.

🔹 Intake:

3/29/2026: 1 white w/ black spots pit mix dog. Dog name is Spot missing all his fur. Multiple people live in unit constantly in and out. Dog’s owner has not been seen in days. People in the unit not caring for the dog / letting it in the house.

📝 Shelter Notes:

3/30/2026: Approach kennel, presented a relax body, soft squinty eyes. Walks well on a loose leash to the dog run and is quiet in the kennel.

3/31/2026: Dog greeted me at the front of the kennel with an open mouth, soft eyes, and loose wiggly body and tail. Easily leashed, and dog walked with a relaxed leash to the runs. Mostly kept to himself, with some tail wags when greeting other dogs at the fence. Easily leashed and returned to kennel. Very wiggly.

🚑 Medical Notes:

3/29/2026: Weighed 52.2 lbs. Generalized dermatitis with widespread hair loss/thinning and skin redness. Skin scrape negative / no mites seen. Intact male. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies 1 year), dewormed, flea prevention applied, and heartworm test negative. May need dermatology workup. Currently stable.

📝 Shelter Notes:

3/27/2026: 03/27/26 18:41 Tail tucked, whale eyed and side eyeing me when I entered to pull enrichment, very tense and stiff while in his kennel. Tossed treats onto his bed to try and redirect him, but he did not show any interest. Kept my distance while pulling out his enrichment.

3/28/2026: As I approached, he looked at me with worried eyes. I moved toward him slowly, and after sniffing me, he let me pet him. I took his e-collar off while taking him outside. He was excellent on the leash, took treats gently, and enjoyed exploring the yard. When we headed back to the kennel, he let me put the e-collar back on without any trouble.

3/29/2026: Approaching the kennel, Max was laying down on his cot with whale eyes and ears down. He rose up slowly and walked up to me slowly. He was leashed easily and walked on a loose leash to and from the outside runs with a neutral body.

3/30/2026: Max presented a tense body, a low tail, and whale eyes when approached. I leashed him, and he willingly walked out, maintaining the same body language. Once outside, I was walking another dog past his run when Max began barking forward at the dog on leash. I retrieved Max and placed him back in his kennel. He maintained a tense body and whale eyes the entire time. I offered treats, and he ate them right away. I baby talked and he wagged his tail but then stop and kept a hard stare.

🚑 Medical Notes:

3/13/2026: Intake exam completed. Weighed 59.0 lbs. Intact male at intake. Vaccinated with DA2PP-V.

3/15/2026: Weighed 59.0 lbs. Normal exam. Vaccinated with Bordetella and Rabies (1 year). Dewormed. Given Pyrantel and Advantage Multi. Heartworm test: Negative.

3/26/2026: Neutered. E-collar placed. Weighed 55.8 lbs. Mild flaky skin noted. Given Carprofen post-op.

3/28/2026: Recheck exam for upper respiratory infection. Weighed 55.8 lbs. Severe thick green nasal discharge tinged with blood noted, along with inappetence (did not eat dry food, but ate wet food when offered). Also lethargic with mildly increased respiratory effort. Diagnosed with severe CIRD / possible pneumonia. Moved to treatment and started on Doxycycline 250 mg once daily for 10 days and Cerenia 2.5 mL once daily for 3 days. Fluids (LRS) if inappetence continues. Urgent medical plea recommended for full service veterinary management.
