X1 Pro AI370 initial impressions
Just got my X1 Pro last night. It’s the AI 370 model with 32 GB ram and 1 TB storage.
Here are my initial impressions as someone with an MSI claw 8 AI, and also owned a legion go previously.
Tablet itself: feels super premium, surprisingly. Has a bit of weight to it, but I wouldn’t say too much. So far everything has updated and functioned great. I’ve been playing games plugged in, on 30 W mode with full resolution and it’s handled basically everything very well. Mine has 2 500 GB hard drives installed, which I thought was weird. They also seem to be slower read/write compared to my claw.
Keyboard: seems nice for a free keyboard. I’ll probably never really use it.
Controllers: so far, absolute trash. I cannot believe they would ship a unit this nice with controllers this horrible. They feel like cheap, dollar tree controllers. The sticks are the worst I have ever felt, triggers feel like they are going to fall apart at any second, the plastic they used is so cheap and thin they feel like they’ll flex, crack, and break at any minute. And the left bumper doesn’t work at all on mine. I have tested it in game and also in their gamepad testing software and it’s not registering any key press.
I’m actively looking into 3rd party controllers. I have a few days to send it back, so before I do I want to see if one x will either replace the controllers otherwise back it will go. Long term, I think the solution would just be 3rd party controllers. The tablet part is so nice, that I’m hesitant to sent it back just over that part. The screen is so much nicer than the claw 8 inch screen.
Either way, the rumors about the horrible controllers are true. That needs to be their main focus on any successor because wow are they bad.
