Me and my boss I NEED ADVICE!!!
I work in construction and I’ve been on this one job site for about eight months now everyone on the crew is close with each other. We bust balls and eat lunch together every single day and personally I think I’m closer with my boss Then with anyone else on the crew. Two weeks ago on Monday we were eating lunch. Everybody was sitting on the tailgate of my truck and I had french fries is a part of my lunch. And my boss looks over takes a couple of french fries eats them and then rolls up his sleeves and takes off his sunglasses and says I think I have poison ivy and his face is all swollen and his hands are all irritated with rashes….. immediately called him out and said that was disgusting. Why would you stick your dirt construction hands in someone else’s food without asking especially when you have an infection or something physically wrong with you? It’s not about the french fries there’s plenty for everyone it’s about the respect of another grown man’s belongings, especially his food that he’s about to eat….. well he didn’t like that at all and he actually took it personally and has basically iced me out for the past week and a half. He avoids me he’s short and rude to me. He could be shooting the shit with someone and having a good laugh, and if I walked into the conversation, or started approaching him. His smile would turn into a frown. It’s been about a week and a half since this happened and I’m really debating on whether I should say something or not. Or if I should just let it go…. i’ve moved past it. I have nothing wrong with him. I got my point across. I’m not upset with him and dragging it out. It’s him. He’s been acting ridiculous for the past week and a half…if he was really mad enough to get rid of me he would’ve done it last week on Friday so I’m not necessarily worried about losing my job. It’s more so that I considered him a friend more than anyone else on this job site and now he won’t even look my way and it’s annoying and almost a little bit disrespectful… he still comes to me with work stuff because he has to ultimately this job site wouldn’t run smoothly if he left me out of the picture completely but he does petty shit like there was another company’s excavator on the job site and in the morning, I asked him what it was doing here and he said don’t worry about it. They know what they’re doing and then another guy from our crew asked what the excavator was doing on site like five minutes later and he had a whole explanation for him and what they were supposed to be doing on the job site…. I think the part that bothers me the most is I consider him a friend. We shoot the shit and break balls more than we have actual work conversations and ever since this lunch incident happened a week and a half ago I feel like he avoids me at all costs. What should I do and how should I handle it…..
