April 21 Dark Narc Club | Topic: Perception is Reality (Lying and Controlling the Narrative)
every other Tuesday | 8:30 - 10 pm EST | via Zoom
FACILITATORS: u/theinvisiblemonster + u/narcclub
DISCUSSION PROMPTS:
- When you lie, is it more often a planned act or an impulsive/automatic response? Do you lie more by fabrication or by strategic omission?
- If everyone you know compared notes about you, what wouldn’t line up?
- Have you ever told a lie so many times it started to feel true (ie, you started to believe it yourself)? Explain.
- Have you ever lost control of a narrative? Elaborate. Specifically: what did that feel like, and how did you react?
- Have you ever caused someone to doubt their own memory or perception? How did you justify that to yourself?
- Do you believe people can truly know you – and if not, does that feel more like relief or a loss?
- What’s a belief about yourself that you’re invested in maintaining, even if it’s not fully true?
- When did lying first become useful for you? Was there a time in your childhood when telling the truth didn’t feel safe or effective? Do you operate as if those conditions are still true?
