Really disappointed with Rakuten repeatedly denying bonuses over “tracking issues” despite proof of completion

I’ve generally had decent experiences with Rakuten over the years, but I’m becoming increasingly frustrated with a pattern I’ve now experienced multiple times involving large banking offers.

Most recently, I completed the Alliant Credit Union offer through Rakuten and carefully followed all of the stated requirements:

- Opened account through Rakuten
- Completed required deposits
- Maintained the required balance
- Provided screenshots/documentation when requested

After weeks of back-and-forth and submitting proof of everything, Rakuten came back saying the order was “not eligible” due to tracking/attribution issues and offered a $100 goodwill bonus instead of honoring the actual promotion.

What’s frustrating is that at no point did they say I failed the offer terms themselves. The denial was essentially:

“The merchant didn’t attribute the commission to Rakuten.”

As a customer, that’s incredibly disappointing because there’s really no way for us to control backend tracking systems after completing the offer correctly and in good faith.

I understand that tracking failures happen occasionally, but when users provide clear documentation proving they completed the requirements, it feels unreasonable for the entire burden to fall on the customer every time.

I’m posting this mainly as a datapoint for others pursuing larger financial offers through Rakuten:

- Keep screenshots of EVERYTHING
- Save account opening confirmations
- Document all qualifying activities
- Don’t assume successful completion means the bonus will track automatically

And even after doing all of the above, don’t be shocked if they say they can’t honor the offer. That’s what they did to me. And are probably doing to several others.

I remember there was discussion on this before and it was advised to cancel the Aviator before the transition, but I forgot to cancel my Barclays Aviator before April 24 when it transitioned to a Citi AA Platinum Select. Will I be eligible for a Citi SUB if I apply for a Citi AA Platinum Select now?

Hi all.. looking for some guidance on timing and Medicare logistics.

My mom (72) has Original Medicare + Medigap Plan N. She’s been receiving Prolia injections every 6 months in India, and her next dose is due around May 5.

We’re now in Texas, and trying to continue her treatment here without paying high Part D costs.

Here’s where we’re stuck:

- Her doctor here sent Prolia to the pharmacy → WellCare Part D denied it

- From what I understand, Prolia should be covered under Part B if administered by a provider

- Her current doctor’s office is unsure if they can administer / bill under Part B

We’re now considering:

- Calling her orthopedic (treated prior fracture in US last year)

- Or booking with a new endocrinologist/rheumatologist

Questions:

  1. What’s the fastest way to get this done under Part B within ~1 week?

  2. Will a new provider require a DEXA scan first, or can they proceed based on fracture history + prior Prolia use?

  3. Any tips to make sure the provider bills correctly under Part B (“buy & bill”)?

  4. Has anyone successfully switched providers quickly for something like this?

We’re okay with a few days delay, but trying to avoid pushing this out too long or paying $2k for this injection.

Thanks in advance!
