Updated research on Sub Degrees in the Celestial Kingdom Yay or Nay

About 3 years ago, I made a Reddit post discussing an article and research from Shanon Flynn regarding the possible misinterpretation of D&C 131.

From that time, I have been on that bandwagon of we should rethink how we look at sub-degrees of the Celestial Kingdom. However, this new Essay from David Smith introduces new evidence and quotes in the pro-sub degrees position.

I think the work he does here is very convicing. If anyone is intrested in this topic i think it is well worth the read.

Dan McCellen tepidly weighs in on the "Lawsuit" via a question from Nemo the Mormon

It seems Dan is slowly wading into more and more LDS adjacent topics than in times past.

I think what is interesting is both the balanced and nuanced answer Dan gives from a biblical scholar's position.

As well as my view that Nemo's Gotacha Style questions kinda hinge on the assumption that the LDS is being hypocritical in its applications of scriptures. But I think this only works if the framework is something similar to a Sola Scriptura and Univocality interpretation of scripture. A frame work the LDS church doesn't take. But even if they do. It seems Dan sees enough Wiggle Room that things become fuzzy and murky.

Alas another chapter in the critics new favorite saga. :)
