Best Platforms to Share Art that isn't Twitter or Instagram (2026)?
Hello, this post isn't for me, but for someone I followed on Instagram who was trying to make a new account, but got banned.
So an artist I used to watch wants to come back to share artwork she drew on a cartoon we used to watch a long time ago. I don't want to give a lot about this user, but she used to be on DeviantArt and later Tumblr, but they migrated to Instagram in the mid 2010s. They closed their tumblr and DeviantArt about 5 years ago, and later Instagram in 2023.
They went into hibernation aside from a comment they posted on Twitter 2 years ago, but this artist came back and wanted to post art from a cartoon she was a fan of. They first tried Twitter, but they jumped ship back to Instagram because she claims that it's 10% less evil. Things were well until this morning after her account vanished. I first thought she closed it herself because no one was watching her aside from me. But she posted on her Twitter that her Instagram was gone. (whenever or not because I commented about her account or she saw her email about it). Prior to the ban, the user only posted 12 pieces of art with an animation for the past 2-3 days. I don't know if it's because it's a recent account or Instagram thought that she might be a spammer. Instagram stated that they'll unban her if she shows proof she's human, but she doesn't want to likely to keep her identity safe and takes the comment back that Instagram is less evil than Twitter.
I feel kinda upset on her behalf as I don't want her to give up just because of what happened on Instagram and commented on her Twitter to try other platforms, but I haven't heard from it since.
I want to ask any of you on what platforms are better to showcase their art? I know they likely won't try DeviantArt and Tumblr as they likely don't want to go back to those cesspools, and they likely won't try Twitter and Instagram. I know there's Bluesky, but it's just Twitter with a new coat of paint (especially as they're just as toxic, they just don't want to be on a site owned by someone they don't like). The only other platform that'll be more suitable is NewGrounds as they haven't been affected with most of the platforms I mentioned.
