32F PKR scheduled for August. What do you wish you did to prepare?
Hi there!
This group has helped me a lot as far as finally making the decision to proceed with surgery. I have a partial knee replacement scheduled for August this year pending my recent MRI results don't show that I need a TKR. This will probably be my first of two with a TKR on my other knee to come next year.
My question - what do you wish you did differently going into your surgery, or what did you do that you think helped with recovery? I work a desk job but I have put in for short term disability so I can prioritize PT and R&R post op. Right now exercise wise I am able to do light yoga/pilates (still sometimes painful) and upper body. Previously was extremely active, weightlifting daily, running, the works (former college soccer player, being active is a priority for me and my mental health has suffered with my knee deteriorating) - so I am really hoping to be able to get back to that in some capacity, or at least live a normal life as a 30 year old without my knees holding me back.
If you had a partial specifically, what did your mobility level look like about a month after? I work in sports, so the timing of this prior to football season is not ideal but I had few other options.
Thank you for any feedback!
