Question about ticks
This is a genuine question because I’m interested and also a little confused. I have never seen or encountered a tick on a hike in Alberta. (Lucky me! I’m so happy about this!) But every year around this time I see reports about DROVES of ticks. I went up Wasootch Ridge today and per AllTrails reviews of the hike, the ticks are out and some people have already found them on themselves. I also saw reviews from Wasootch Peak that mentioned ticks everywhere.
Where are people finding them/what on earth are they doing to encounter all of these ticks? Are these people rolling around in the grass? Even today when I was sitting on the ground having lunch, I looked all around me trying to see where these heaps of ticks were and I just didn’t see any?! I often wonder if some people are mixing up ticks with other bugs, but then again, I couldn’t even find many OTHER bugs on the ground.
Don‘t get me wrong, I’m THRILLED to be lucky enough to not finds ticks everywhere but I’m a little confused at how I’m the only person seemingly not encountering an army of ticks?
