I’m recording acoustic strumming with an SE V7 into an ID4 with gain maxed out, but I’m averaging around -40. Am I doing something wrong here? Do I just need to boost it in post or should I get a cloudlifter/fethead? Obviously boosting it is going to increase the already audible noise.

Any help would be appreciated. I’ve had the same issue with the nt1 by the way, as soon as I boost the gain up high enough, there’s just too much noise. The mic is literally almost touching just next to the 12th fret.

Using curves resolve in reaper, but can’t find the sidechain button. No issues in logic or studio one. Up to date Mac OS & reaper.

Also, how cool is it that reaper has a mix knob for all inserts? No bus needed if you don’t wanna make one!🤣

advice on a dynamic mic for recording vocals and acoustic guitars in a bedroom? Needs to noise rejection. My current list is the SM57, SE V7, Sennhesier E609 & MD241 Kompact.

Curious to know why people say the e609 isn’t good for vocals, whereas the rest are seen as sort of a jack of all trades. Needs to be under £250 new btw, even that’s a stretch. Lmk your thoughts. For my tone is kinda Michael Jackson/the weeknd ish if that helps.
