I booked a basic economy and then selected a specific aisle seat. I printed out my boarding ticket with the correct seat. When I boarded the plane another passenger was already sitting on my seat. I showed them my printed boarding pass and they showed me their boarding pass on their mobile and we both have the same seat. I looked at my digital boarding pass and my seat has been changed to another seat even though i specifically paid for it.

The FA and agent was unhelpful but the agent mentioned they would refund me and compensate me for the inconvenience. I have not received anything from United except for a refund.. Has this happened to you? What would you do?
