Portable Piano, delivery let it fall on the floor!
I ordered a portable piano, which got delivered by UPS today, I live in a flat on 3rd floor with a lift so the delivery driver rang my intercome (downstairs) I press the key to let him enter the building, he brings it to my flat , he let the package leaning on the (door) of my flat, then he left immediately, as I come to open the door the whole 16KG standing package of the Korg D1 drops on my entrance corridor, and bang! that’s how I received my D1 ! Also between the door and the corridor there is a 3 inch ramp which hit the packaging but it didn’t show any clear dent in the packaging, it was originally a discounted board already (B-stock/returned item) and the packaging looked rough from presumably previous deliveries and returns. If the delivery driver just let it lean against the wall instead of the door which he should have thought I will open any moment, non of that would have happend.
Honstly I wouldn’t make a fuss about this if it was a light 2KG 49 keys synth action controler, but this is a 16 KG weighted hammer action keybed piano, a fall like that could easily damage the internal mechanism even though the RH3 key action is quite robust, but still.
I feel utterly gutted by the handling of UPS delivery, it all happened in a split of a second, I couldn’t have catched the package from the fall, I wasn’t expecting such an unprofessional way of leaving a fragil item leaning on the door.
Anyone, here with experience of buying new weighted keyboards and similar delivery damage, what would you advise me to do ? should I accept the package and open it, with the possible risk, or just return it to the music store without even opening or inspecting any possible damage?
