Are 'Gollum' branches more rigid than 'Variegata'?

I have a Gollum that's a little older than the Variegata but the trunk and branches are very firm and rigid. It doesn't sway at all when moved.

This weekend, I bought a Variegata because the trunk is just so pretty. But I noticed that the trunk is kind of wiggly.

Is this because it's younger (2 gal vs 3 gal pot)? Or is that a difference between the two varieties?
