Cloth diapering for a skinny leg baby

I originally wanted to cloth diaper from birth. We made a few attempts, had some leaks and then got hot by some health issues that took up all of our energy and time with baby, so cloth diapering kind of got thrown to the sidelines.

One of the problems we have with cloth diapering is that we have a tiny baby. He is 4.5 months and still has not hit 13 pounds. His legs are SO skinny. To the point where 0-3 month onesies get too short on him but are gaping a ton around his legs, even brand new with new elastics.

Is there a good hack for making this work for a skinny leg baby?

Is there any alternative to nursing to sleep?

Hi all!

My LO is 4 months old and I have been nursing to sleep since day 1. I know so many say it's going to cause a sleep association, but at the end of the day, it brings my baby comfort, they love it and it is the most calm way to get them to sleep.

That being said, I have started needing breaks here and there from being to one to feed and put our LO to sleep. My partner has taken over one of the feeds in the night, (baby still does 2-3 night feeds, so my partner is in charge of the one that happens between 2:30am-4:30am) but our baby screams himself to sleep if he is not actively nursing. My partner holds him, rocks him, and makes sure he knows that he is loved. After about 10 minutes of this, he just passes out in my partner's arms.

I'm just wondering if there is any way we can support our LO without the tears, so that I can have a break for that one MOTN feed. He still feeds 8 times per day, so he is breastfed for 7 of his feeds in the day and he is nurses to sleep for all naps, initial bedtime, and first night feed. I am just getting a bit of a low supply due to lack of sleep and I am seriously needing the rest.

Thanks for suggestions!! :)

How Do I Know If Sleep Training Is Right For Me And My LO?

My LO, just turned 4 months and we have be officially hit the 4 months regression. I feel like such a baby for not being able to handle it, but last night I did not get any sleep until 3am as my baby was walking every 15-30 minutes. Then he was up at 5:30am doing the same thing. This is only day 4 of this and I am going crazy. My partner and I do take shifts but my partner works a job where he can't be overtired or people could die, and he also leaves for work at 5:30am so it's a lot trickier for him to be up with baby.

We have been going back and forth on sleep training as we can't decide if it's right for us. Our preference would be a gradual method, however we have never been able to have our baby be set down drowsy but awake and have him not start crying and getting more agitated. CIO is not really something that we are interested in either. We are thinking about Ferber, but I read so many different ages for when you can start. For more context, our little one is 2nd percentile and dropping a night feed is not appropriate for him at this time. I am totally fine with 2-4 night feedings still. He is just over 12 pounds, and I have read in some places that you should wait until baby is 6 months and 14 pounds. His naps are also still all over the place... I wish we could get him on a schedule but he also still has 5 naps a day, usually 30-45 minutes each, so I don't think he is over sleeping in the day. We try to use wake windows and sleep cues, but I feel like I have no idea what I am doing... I don't have any friends with babies and my in-laws can't really help us because they said that in their day they just put the baby into a swing and let them sleep in there for 5-6+ hours so they don't know how to help 🤦‍♀️

We do have a solid bedtime routine and nap routine (bath, diaper, pj's, story, white noise, fall asleep rocking then transfer) but I would love any other suggestions on how to help my kiddo get to sleep and if sleep training is right for us

What unscented/fragrance free deodorant actually works?

Hi! My 4 month old has severe eczema and I have been transitioning everything in the house to fragrance free. Luckily (kinda?) I have allergies to most fragrances, so most things have been swapped for years (laundry detergent, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, body wash, etc.). The one thing I have never had a reaction to was secret scented deodorant, but I am worried that my deodorant may be affecting my LO. My husband always uses Dove and if I get too close to him I also have reactions, so I am sure that he and I should both make a switch.

So what deodorant actually works but is fragrance free? I can practically wear anything unscented and be fine, but my partner is a big time sweater and needs something strong as he does physical labour all day. Any suggestions?

Can I Put My Baby to Sleep on their side?

Hi! My 4 month old has been a TERRIBLE sleeper for about two months now. They start raging as soon as they think I am going to put them down for a nap or bed. Once they are asleep, they will sleep no problem, but putting them to bed feels like a nightmare. He will scream and sometimes start to kick and hit my partner and I when we are trying to put him down. Today I made a discovery.... I was putting him down for his nap and I am exhausted today, so I decided to just put him in his crib and lay beside him. He started his usual screaming, so I held his hand to keep him somewhat calm. While holding my hand, he rolled onto his side and almost instantly fell asleep! I tried again next nap and he was so calm and fell asleep on his own. These are the only times in his life I have put him into his crib drowsy but awake and he fell asleep instead of getting ptfo.

I think it is worth mentioning that he can roll from back to tummy and tummy to back. He has good head and neck strength as well. There is nothing in the crib except for a single pacifier that he sometimes takes. I stayed right by his side today for both naps to make sure he was okay, but I am wondering if it is okay to put him down for a nap on his side now, or if I should just stick to his back as that is safer?

My baby is almost 4 months old and we have been battling with what we now know is severe eczema since my baby was about 1 month old. We have been to several doctors and are currently working with a pediatrician, but we feel like nothing is keeping it away. Right now our daily routine is absolutely exhausting me as a new mom. The eczema is quite literally head to toe and this is what we are currently doing (as recommended by the pediatrician) to keep it at bay:

•Steroid cream twice per day for 2 weeks, then twice a week for 3 weeks.

•Fusidic acid twice a day to keep the skin infections down

•Euricin eczema baby cream on babies entire body at every diaper change (about 6-8 times daily)

•aphaphor on top to seal everything in for every diaper change and steroid creams

•coating the inside of clothes with the eurocin lotion

•changing babies outfits 3 times daily

•using hypoallergenic unscented laundry detergent for ALL laundry in the house

•ALL laundry is being double rinsed

•all hand soaps have been switched to unscented

•trimming nails with a nail file daily

•baby is EBF and I have cut out all gluten and dairy products (including goat and sheep) for about 2 months now

•vitamin D daily

•probiotics daily

•Weekly bleach bath (1tsp of bleach in the baby bath tub)

•daily baths with aquaphor baby soap

•baby only wears 100% cotton clothes

•humidifier is running every night

•quick note that my baby reacts to all aveeno products

My question is basically if it ever stops being this terrible? Doing all of this on top of the normal baby things has me completely exhausted and I barely feel human. Will my baby be dealing with eczema their whole life? Should I ask for an allergy test? Should I consider cutting out soy? Did anyone have other things that helped with their baby this young? Please help! :(
