Hello! I don't currently own any BJDs (and the ones I want are...uh, an arm and a leg and a half, haha)† but I'm wondering if anyone uses more affordable BJDs as artist mannequins/manikins for pose references. Something that has slightly more realistic/human body proportions — probably a 1/4 or 1/6 if they have an adult proportion at that size. I feel like the 1/3 sizes are honestly too big for what I'm looking for.
Or are these dolls too delicate for regular posing/manipulation? If they're not, are there any "average figure" male and female doll bodies that people can recommend, and which aren't like, $500 for a single doll? I've looked at Body-kun and sticky-bones dolls too, but I like the fact that BJD type of dolls are more lifelike. Also I feel like body-kun/body-chan figures are often less physically accurate. I don't want anything super extreme in terms of muscles or breast size, haha. I can always add that myself in a drawing!
I figured I would ask here because for my purposes I don't care if it's a recast body, I'm mostly interested in the ability to dress the doll/have a wig, and pose in for drawing reference first.
† the 1/4 Ringdoll Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian dolls. I'm trying to tell myself that spending like, $1k+ is not something I should do, lol. I don't want to impulse buy something that expensive.
