Stuck Needle & Seat

I’m working on a carburetor for the first time in my life, so I am at the bottom of the learning curve.

It’s a Holley 4150 series, 750cfm four barrel double pumper which sits atop a 454 in my ‘72 c10.

The truck is running rich, fouling plugs, so the first thing I want to do is clean and rebuild the carb with fresh gaskets and whatnot.

I’ve gotten as far as taking it apart, but I for the life of me cannot get the needle and seats out of both fuel bowls. They appear to have been screwed down too tight into the bowls, with the flats on either side flush with/below the casting level of the fuel bowls (yes the nut & gasket is off).

I bought the Holley rebuild kit (37-485) so would rather put the new ones in there.

How can I get them out?

I have attached two photos: the first one shows the primary bowl from above where you can see how flush the needle & seat is with the casting.

The second photo shows inside the fuel bowl – by unscrewing the little cover over the float hinge I can get to it from the inside. Is this my best option?

Thank you in advance everyone; I appreciate the learning!
