Pokémon X Field Museum Chicago Preview 2026

Today I attended the early preview of The Pokémon Fossil museum x Field. I attached a few photos to get you guys excited!

When the collaboration was announced last year I was excited and eager to visit the Field Museum in Chicago. Pokémon in my book holds a nostalgic place! I was happy to experience the exhibit which exhibited a cool twist on fossils.

Exhibit: Colorfully lit with expert lighting and plaques. There are a few ‘Pokémon paleontologists’ located throughout the exhibit which adds a few interactive elements (touching replica fossils of the T-Rex Sue). They utilize in some waypoints a contrast Pokémon fossils to real fossils which brings you back into reality in a good way. (I was kind of hoping to see someone running around in a Pokémon mascot costume? lol that’s just the whimsy speaking)

Gift shop:
I bought a few things from the ‘Pokémon museum store’. They had these interesting t tex and pterodactyl sets with skeletal insides and the Pokémon’s shell I believe. Many pieces from the looks of the box lol. I bought one of each I can post if interested. I was limited 5 items per customer and some items were limited 1 person customer ( T-Rex and pterodactyl Pokémon). I believe those sets were also the only things that said they were exclusive to the location ( this is noted in the sign ).

Overall, I think it’s really exciting to see a franchise from your childhood be reimagined. They did an excellent job! I wouldn’t definitely say this is geared towards just kids because the museum has so many world class offerings!
