is it just the ai, or is it our what i call 'google habit'?

I've been watching lately the r/uniuk rants about brain atrophy or crashing out over blank pages. It's quite easy to blame the tool, but I think the real brainrot started years ago with the what i call 'Google habit'. I define this as the habit of barking keywords at a screen and expecting it to spit out a finished, polished answer.

If you treat AI like a vending machine, then yes, your neurons will go idle. But I think if you treat it as a sparring partner for your thoughts, then you keep the intent yours. I'd say it's actually an overclock for a person's thinking.

TLDR: AI is not bad. Don't treat it like Google. Have a conversation with it.

So. Do you think we are actually being dumbed down? Or are people just using a 2026 potential rocket ship for thought while using a 2010 search bar mindset and then getting confused abt why it won't spit out a PhD level paper?
