How do I make something a normal length?

Every time I write, I end up packing tons into one chapter and having a short story overall. Whenever I read books, a lot less happens in the same amount of time giving accurate pacing, and I just can't figure out how they do it.

If someone brings up politics, report them instead of engaging. Just because someone hasn't removed it YET doesn't mean its permitted. If someone posts an AMA, just because they say ask me 'anything' does not mean you can ask them about politics, or anything else that is banned. If you want to discuss politics, don't do it here of all places.
