I have both a 2226 and 2225 that have been sitting for 30+ years.

Both have been tested by a vintage professional and are in good working order, proper watts, etc.

The 2225 holds greater sentimental value, so contemplating selling the 2226 to finance a total overhaul ($400) of the 2225 so that it lasts another generation.

What kind of market/$ is there for a 2226 that is tested and working, but has not been serviced? Seems like all on HiFi shark have been serviced and honestly shocking at $700 - $1000

Am I crazy to sell the 2226?

I have resurrected my dad’s Marantz 2225 and am looking for help on what to look for in a speaker suitable for a larger open concept space.

I know that my space, budget, and setup are way less than ideal. I have accepted that the sound will not be perfect, but looking to maximize what I can.

What should I look for in a speaker. I know nothing, so all the help is appreciated (2 way vs 3 way, DBs, etc. etc.) Can I get away with a bookshelf speaker on stands?

Speaker budget: $250

Receiver: Marantz 2225

Music source: Spotify via WiiM mini

Music type: mostly Grateful Dead, early 2000s alternative

Space: living room 323 sq ft opens into kitchen 196 sq ft (see picture)
