(Annoying trope) Unnecessary explanation for fantasy name

Mistborn- Spook's original name, Lestibournes, originates from in-universe slang "lefting I'm born"

Solo: A Star Wars Story- The most well-known example of this, when the Imperial officer put Han's last name down as Solo because he always alone

The Dark Crystal- Gelfling comes from the Aughrian "ghelflainnk" meaning "one who lives without knowledge of the future", though granted this isn't in the actual movie

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever- Namor is derived from "el niño sin amor" (the boy without love)

According to the wiki, skekShod became the Skeksis' Collector after skekLach's death. But wasn't he already collecting tithes in the AoR spinoff comic? So what was he supposed to be doing before that? Was there ever a distinction between their roles as Treasurer and Collector? Is it just the same thing, with skekShod having a different job before skekLach's death that we don't know of? Also, why would they need a new Collector if they were at war with the Gelfling?

They could have fused during the Great Conjunction, not having needed to go to the Castle of the Crystal because they were already together. While they didn't return in the sequel comics, they could have been somewhere else since all of the other Skeksis and Mystics reappeared in the castle which is where they fused, though I don't get how since they returned to their homeworld.

I don't mean movies like the Dark Crystal, necessarily, but rather similar settings in any medium. I'm interested in fantasy (sci-fi also works) settings without humans or at least where the main characters aren't human. I'd also prefer if it revolves entirely around mythical/alien creatures instead of regular animals.
