other plant sellers? shipping set up help please!

Hi! New seller--looking for advice on how to set shipping defaults for plants. I charge a flat fee of 5.99 for shipping and have been using USPS Ground Shipping. Mostly its working fine, but I have some buyers all the way across the country from me who have had some issues. I'm Northeast, and my issues have come from people located on the west coast.

I wanted to add priority mail as an upgrade but have a hard time figuring out how much to "add" --I'd like it to be calculated, but when doing flat rate for the default I can't really understand how to do that. Also, the weight of packages is variable, since people often order several, and the total is coming out to 2 pounds or a little more, which might push it into UPS for better prices.

Is there a way to default to priority mail if the buyer is a certain number of zones away? Priority for everyone? But it raises shipping costs so much that people might not buy from me.

Just wondering if you have any advice!

Thanks!

Hi, I'm going back to GLPs after a year off. Trying Tirz this time as sema stopped working at the dose available to me (1mg). You don't really need all the back story, because what I'm looking for now is some food advice. I have really struggled with sugar addiction and had hoped that taking the med would quiet my urges. It didn't. I struggled to make good choices when I didn't feel like eating. It was easier or felt better to eat a few crackers or cookies, sweetened meal replacement bars, or whatever. I really want to shift my diet back to whole food plant based, which I have been in the past but struggle to maintain.

The difficulty with whole food plant based eating is that it focuses on filling up on low calorie foods, like salads, cooked starches like potatoes, and vegetables, while getting protein from beans and tofu. When I was on semaglutide, I worried about "filling up" on low calorie foods and not getting enough calories. But then I didn't feel like eating some of those healthy foods and I made bad choices, like processed bars and other things. I'd like to do better this time.

Does anyone else eat whole food plant based on this diet? Any tips? I am hoping to do a smoothie for breakfast, salad with beans/tofu for lunch, and things like sweet potato with black beans and broccoli; lentil stew; veg chili; and curried cauliflower with rice for dinners.

I do not want to go back to meal replacement bars or pre-made protein drinks. What are your go-to foods for a bit of nausea while trying to eat super healthy? I'm hoping to kick the sugar habit quickly!

I shipped a bare root crown division of a plant, carefully packed with the roots wrapped in a wet paper towel. The package was going clear across the country, so it took the maximum amount of time to get there, and then it appears that the buyer didn't open the package for 4 more days. He contacted me yesterday with pictures and the only text was "dead". His ideal resolution is replacement, but I don't have any more of these as they sold out. My store policy is no returns or refunds, but I do say on live plant shipments that they have 24 hours to let me know of any issues and we can problem solve.

The plant is definitely dead, and he definitely didn't follow the care instructions. I've shipped the same item packed the same way to 30 other buyers who haven't said anything about damage or dead, and I've even got a couple of 5* reviews of the item.

I'm a new seller and totally open to learning from shipping failures, but this seems like he just let the plant sit there in the package for a while before getting around to opening it. Anyways, I don't see a way around giving a refund, because if I don't, he'll leave a bad review of plant arriving dead. Is this always the case? If you hold buyers to your policy they can just give a low rating? I don't have enough ratings yet to bury a 1 star review.

I guess I don't see the point of saying no refunds if the buyer ultimately has me over a barrel to save my ratings on my new store. :(

To refund, do I want him to open a case, or do I just refund directly and be nice about it.
