Excessive audio use?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/home/2026/04/19/excessive-audio-use-addictive-screen-time/
After reading the article* at the link, I realize I don't really sit in silence anymore. I listen to podcasts while walking my dog, driving, exercising, folding laundry, cleaning, and also, sadly, going to sleep. I 100% use podcasts as a way to motivate me to do anything I find even slightly boring or tedious.
It really feels like an excessive habit that's maybe addiction-adjacent. It's not overtly harmful, but I can't see how it wouldn't affect creative thinking or healthy rumination. Curious to hear the thoughts of fellow podcast listeners.
