Housing Pros and Cons?

I recently got accepted into a doctorate program at FGCU and will be moving down to Fort Meyers.

Im ballin' on a MEGA budget to get through more schooling. Any housing recommendations or places I should stay away from?

The Grove/Portofino is offering 2007/mo rent at the moment and I am looking to split that with 2 others. So that would bring my base rent down to 600-700ish.

Budget: Low as possible while still being in a safe area.
Anything I don't spend on rent is what I am then able to use to buy food, essentials, and gas.

This is just a season of tight spending - so I am willing to stay somewhere kinda crappy if its safe enough!

Any advice or thoughts?

THANKS!
