Our almost 10 y/o GSD has been through the ringer over the last week. Some history - in July of '24 he had this weird nosebleed happen where it literally acted like a pinhole leak in a garden hose. It was terrible as you can imagine, I won't detail it any further...We rushed to the hospital to get it under control.

Few days later we got with Dermatology, who later diagnosed him with Pemphigus Erythematosus, an autoimmune disease that they say is akin to lupus of the skin.

We'd gone almost 2 years incident-free, and then we had 2 episodes requiring hospital trips within 5 days this past week. This time the hospital we took him to sutured the site where the blood was spurting from and put some sort of a paste over his nose (I guess to seal in the sutures?)

He'd been on 20mg prednisone 2x daily starting about a month or so ago when his nose started to dry up and show lesions again, and then we tried to wean off by doing 40mg once every other day. Then the flare ups came back last week. We also know that long term steroid usage isn't good for him, especially at his age I'm sure, so we want to get him off ASAP.

What's killing us is that he's a very healthy boy otherwise; no eating problems or bathroom issues. Just can't seem to figure out what the deal is with his nose. They'd done bloodwork and scans and biopsies and no tumors or cancerous cells were found. We're just at a loss and wondering if anyone in the community has seen this before or has any suggestions of prevention, or what the heck to do when it happens. Our current gameplan is to get him outside as quickly as possible so he doesn't paint the whole interior of our home...

Hoping the collective wisdom of this group can help us. Thank you all so much.

Needing some troubleshooting assistance with the new kegerator I got for Guinness. This current keg I let settle for ~ 48 hours at 38F. I’m getting some pretty good looking pours but the velvety texture just isn’t following through so I’m struggling.

Using an inkbird system to regulate the temp, I’ve taped the probe to a Guinness can and placed it inside a koozie resting on the compressor bump (found someone in here who had success with it)

I’ve tried numerous pressures: 30psi, 32, 35, 38. All similar results. I now moved the target temp to 35 wondering if the beer is warming up too much traveling to the glass?

5’ beer line between faucet and keg. Did a full cleaning of the lines before tapping the new one.

I’ve had the inkbird set to 35 overnight so maybe I’ll wait till tonight to try again. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other insights. Thanks for the help!
