Richard! Erika!

I never got around to finish this show as a kid, but I remember this was a little tough to watch as they'd feature a lot of deaths onscreen (which I can handle as a nine-year old), especially this particular episode of the show.

There's not a lot of stuff about Daimos English dub posted online compared to Voltes V but I did find this article about the voice actor who plays Edward (Richard's BFF) on the show. His name is Steve Lupton.

Do you have any notable English loanwords that's unique to your country?

I was told by my teachers in Spanish that "jersey" in Mexico is closer to how it is said in the US due to its proximity. In contrast, when the word got loaned into Spanish in Spain, the Spanish jota is more prominent.

I've also watched some videos where they said that in Puerto Rico, the term locals use for cereals there is "conflei", taken from cornflakes, which is a particular type of cereal originally sold by Kellogs, a major food company. And then, Spanish speakers who grew up in the US would code-switch for certain concepts where they know a word in English but may not know its equivalent in Spanish, such as "parquear" for parking as opposed to "estacionar".

And of course, there's fútbol. =)

Uy, new episodes of Hell Teacher Nube 2025 are now on Netflix PH!

I've been patiently waiting for this show to come back. Kainis lang na hindi tayo kasama sa mga pinalad na bansa na may same-week release window kasabay ng Japan.

I fully expect the reboot to go the whole way as its previous iteration only ended at a certain point as the manga was still ongoing at the time.

Go Sir Nube!

Sinong kinikilig sa dalawang shows na 'to sa Netflix?

It's been a while since I liked a current high school anime but these two really got me feeling all kinds of kilig all over. Haha.

Just asking out of curiosity as someone not from the US. I've been looking at some FCBD-related vlogs on YouTube this week and it's striking to see how very convenient the locations of LCS are to commercial and residential areas and that there's plenty of them in one locality, at least in New York City. Is it the same situation wherever you may be, either anywhere else in the US or elsewhere abroad?

In comparison: Over here in my hometown in the Philippines, the local comic book scene is somewhat dead in a sense that no traditional comic are no longer sold in news stands, corner shops, gas stations and convenience stores unless you count Archie Comics which I still see being sold there (for the time being).

Most likely the only places you can find comics here, local and foreign, would be bookstores and a few dedicated comic book store chains like Comic Odyssey (which also sell single issues with release schedules usually aligned stateside) and you kinda have to travel a bit further from where you live if you wanna buy yourself a comic book.

Thank you. :)

I just saw a TikTok reel of a voice actor who shared a story about a fellow VA who was overseas at a time they were scheduled to voice something for a production. That VA found a studio they can rent for a short time, had the material sent to them, did the recording and then they were done.

I honestly didn't know that is possible, especially in that level of convenience. I'd imagine renting a studio would charge you a high fee.

So yeah, I'm curious if anyone has been in those situations before where, at the very least, there's a place nearby for you to do a recording, or using a phone with a good quality built-in mic is enough for something like a short spiel or something (and sparing unwanted expenses along the way.

Thank you.

I remember watching this one show from Mexico where in an episode, the leading female protagonist, who was in an unhappy and abusive marriage with someone she has long been engaged with (and turned out to be a money-hungry jerk who was after her inheritance), ran away to hide in the countryside, only for her evil husband to find her and have her arrested by the police. I think the charges she faced was adultery (as she was actually in love with someone else, the lead male himself, but never really committed any acts of infidelity during their marriage).

That got me curious if having an affair with someone outside the marriage is an actual crime that can get you in jail. Upon looking it up, Mexico had its own adultery law repealed only 15 years ago, and comparing it to my country over here, it's apparently still in effect, among other surprises, such as the legal age of consent used to be twelve years old, but I believe that has since been raised to 16.

Are there any other examples in your country where you still have these kinds of laws that are decades if not centuries out of date and are either still in effect to this day or have been repealed?

And since it looks fixed (After Takumi destroyed it back in 1x01) and considering how his original bey means so much to him, I hope Robin gets to use it again in a future fight.

I was watching Spider-Man 2017 on Disney Plus today and when I got through these two episodes in Season 2 where Eddie became Venom, it dawned on me how they wasted the character when he was brought back veeeery briefly later in the show where the symbiote awoke from its slumber inside a facility and decided to jump ship, leaving its host behind a glass container, his fate left unknown.

And supposedly, at the close of that arc from the 2017 series, it was hypothesized by Peter and Miles that the V-252 symbiote had finally found a perfect host in Eddie, having melded as one, so now they can no longer separate. I suppose that relationship was retconned when the Other reappeared again later in the show's run, leading to the events of the show's final season (Maximum Venom).

I wonder if not bringing Eddie back again after that arc was because of the Sony movie moving forward, which would be weird considering Marvel now had full control of the TV animation side of things by that point in time so I thought they had control of their IP in all aspects.

Then again, the last Spidey show that came before had Harry and Flash as hosts, with Eddie being a no-show.

Whatever the reason, it's unfortunate because we saw a glimpses of Eddie doing a lot of impressive shapeshifting abilities in these two episodes that reminded me of Venom from Spider-Man Unlimited.

I have been reading DC and Marvel comics for the past couple of years now and some of the recent art from these books look visually great and with some heavily inspired from Japanese manga.

I then come to know that some of these artists that are well-regarded by readers: Humberto Ramos (Mexico), Jorge Jimenez Dan Mora (Costa Rica) and Rafael Albuquerque (Brazil). I always thought that it's hard to break into the comic book industry, especially if you're not from the US itself.

For those who are comic book readers from the region, are you pleasantly surprised learning that a number of these artists are from your respective countries?

Edit: Correction. I was thinking of Dan Mora as the artist from Costa Rica but wrote Jorge Jimenez instead (who is from Spain). hehe

I asked a similar question a couple of few years at another sub so I'm curious if there is something similar for here too.

Here's some words I picked up during the past year that I've been working with voice actors:

  • >!Pick-up - Picking up where we left off to resume recording.!<
  • >!Top - Topping a previous recording with a new one.!<
  • >!Demo - Sometimes a demo reel, sometimes an audition piece of an upcoming project featuring proposed voices to be sent to a client for their approval.!<
  • >!Reel - Sometimes a demo reel, sometimes a vertical video production.!<
  • >!Kapit - A Filipino word where it means "to grab". It's a term I began using during my sessions to describe recurrence of unconsciously highlighting a small space of a track instead of just placing the cursor to where you want to record on ProTools using the mouse.!<
  • >!Compress - Reducing the amount of tracks in a session by moving all recorded dialogue upwards to any empty spaces there are available in a track from the top to the bottom. That saves the amount of time exporting them as condensed tracks.!<
  • >!Condense - Combining all recorded dialogue in one track into a condensed whole.!<
  • >!Process - Applying noise reduction.!<
  • >!Audish - Short for audition!<
  • >!Curing - Fixing any holes, filling in some lines that didn't get voiced the first time, and applying any mandated changes from the client.!<
  • >!Sweeping -Voicing as many minor speaking roles in a project as possible (which I myself sometimes do), only needing to say a word or a phrase, or simply providing additional voices.!<
