Is Vertical Scrolling Format Really Appealing to You?

Hi there. I'd like to ask someone who's subscribed to this type of format. What makes it doable for you? Did you like it right off the bat or did it grow on you? Maybe I'm living under a rock but I came across this Webtoon and I was shocked that there's no turning of pages but like "doomscroll" it to read the whole story and enjoy the graphics. Anyone?

What is this generation's Watchmen, Batman Year One, etc.?

So the 1980's is widely seen as a turning point in comics with the release of acclaimed works like: Alan Moore's Watchmen, The Killing Joke, Swamp Thing; Frank Miller's Daredevil, Dark Knight Returns, and Batman Year One; Grant Morrison's Animal Man. But these are all now 40 years old.

In your estimation, what recent works (say, from 2000 onwards) are worthy to be join this group of classics? Not in terms of popularity but in terms of ambition, literary quality, staying power and influence.

The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Absolute Green Arrow #1.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the debut issue of DC's Absolute Green Arrow or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Quite possibly the best comic book advertisement I've ever seen...

From: The Flash #222 (1973), Page #7. Need to research if CIE is still around. I'd sign up in a jiffy!

Tintin as an adult?

When people talk about Tintin they often mention reading it for the first time as a kid, and the nostalgia they have for it. Almost every adult I know who has read Tintin, or still reads Tintin, read it in their childhood.

But as someone who never read or saw anything Tintin as a child, are these comics still worth getting into? How important is nostalgia for making these 'good' for adult readers?

I tried looking in my local library and my local bookstore, neither had any Tintin.

I recently read Calvin and Hobbes for the first time, and even though most people read them for the first time as a kid, they were fantastic to approach for the first time as an adult (and without nostalgia).

I would also like to hear from other older readers who tried Tintin for the first time, and who never read it when they were young. Did you enjoy it?

OC] WIP fanart of the Grand Regent Thragg. What do you think so far?

Hey everyone! I wanted to share the process of this Thragg piece I’ve been working on. Currently cleaning up the line art and finalizing the details of his cape. Hope you guys like the direction it's taking! Feedback is totally welcome.
