finally got my shiny charm and want to build a Pokemon for shiny hunting!!
I’ve seen parasect be recommended because of false swipe/spore/damp and I’ve got a couple of them in home but i can’t find a simple way to find out a pokemon’s hidden ability? (apart from the dexnav on ruby/sapphire, which I don’t have)
do I just have to trial and error them against Pokemon with self destruct or is there a simpler way that I’m missing?

edit: when I researched, I read “Parasect has two abilities, Effect Spore and Dry Skin, and also has a hidden ability: Damp. The hidden ability Damp can only be obtained through special methods or breeding.” which I think has confused me, along with never having seen a parasect have the ability damp in home

so I’ve currently come out of the game to post this - this is my first shiny ever in sword !!!! but I have no idea how to deal with it
my background is with violet and arceus where you can see they’re shiny in the overworld and then save before, but I’m not quite sure how to navigate this lmao as I know Pokemon disappear once you flee from a battle
is there any way tactically I can save this if it goes wrong or is it just either you get it or you don’t and a lot of heartbreak?
