Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice from people working in college basketball video.

I’m currently in NCAA Division I athletics as a video analyst (WSOC), and I’m trying to transition into basketball video, with the long-term goal of becoming a Video Coordinator.

Quick background:

  • 33 years old
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Already working in D1 athletics (video role)
  • Coaching background
  • Used to long hours / structured environments

I’ve started learning Hudl Sportscode (tagging, breakdowns) and getting familiar with basketball workflows.

Main questions:

  • Is 33 too late to make this move?
  • What’s the best entry point if I can’t go the student/intern route?
  • What matters most when trying to get into a BB video staff?

I’m open to starting as a volunteer and working my way up — just trying to take the smartest path.

Appreciate any advice!

Hey everyone,

I’m 32, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Management, and I currently work as a soccer coach.

Most of my coaching hours are in the evenings and on weekends, which I really enjoy. The issue is that I still have a lot of free time in the mornings, and I’m trying to find a job or opportunity that fits roughly between morning → 2pm so I can complete my schedule and be more stable financially.

I’m pretty open-minded, but I’m not exactly sure what direction to go in.

I’ve been thinking about working on a college campus (athletics, operations, equipment, academic support, anything really), but I honestly don’t know what entry-level roles exist or what would be realistic for someone like me. Also teaching?

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have ideas for it?

I’m really just trying to build something that fits around coaching and allows me to grow long-term.

Appreciate any advice or ideas
