During WW2, Japan captured (estimated)200,000 female prisoners, including children, from asian and pacific countries as "Comfort Woman" who are used as sex slaves.

Throughout the years Japan have pressured multiple countries to remove their "Comfort Woman" statue, threatening deplomatic action. Some of the countries include America, Philippine, Australia and Ironically, Germany.

Edit for NZ's involvement in WW2:
About 140,000 NZ citizens fought in WW2 alongside UK. Thats ~9% of NZ's entire population at the time for a war that involved them very little.
NZ Soldiers were also famously deployed at high intensity combat zones, leading to one of the highest casualty rate per capita.
