1st floor in Taiwan means ground floor for North Americans/planta baja for Spanish speakers?

I feel like this is a silly question. Does 1F mean ground floor? Or it means one floor above ground floor?

Edit: thanks everyone. I previously lived in Spain and 1F is not ground floor. It is above ground floor. I appreciate the help.

Starting juicing 6 months ago. Dentist says I have 3 baby cavities now. Correlation?

I begin regularly juicing 6 months ago. I had a dental exam before I started and no cavities. Usually do 4-5 juices a week cold pressed. I went to the dentist again and he said there are 3 baby cavities. I’m wondering if there is a correlation? I can’t really think of other changes lifestyle wise. The main thing I can think of is the juicing. I use a straw. Though I don’t brush after.

I don’t think the dentist is fear mongering or misreading the X-rays either. He is quite thorough and professional. I am paranoid now if I should juice maybe 2-3 times a week to preserve enamel?

Wenzao or NSYSU CLC?

Wondering if anyone has studied at either of the two places? I would love any feedback. Specifically on teaching styles and verbal practice. I have no experience. Will be starting from zero. I want to feel more confident speaking and listening.

I believe both CLCs offer 1 to 1 study consult/office hours?

How are the demographics? I am in my thirties. Worried I will be the big sister/aunt amount new graduates lol.

Completed my first 36 hours fast. I can’t believe it.

Between 20-24h was brutal. Headache, irritable. Though I realized I wasn’t physically hungry. It was more my brain’s programming. I tried to keep busy and focused on projects. It’s amazing how food is often a time-filler. I also slept like a baby with some wild dreams in there.

I see a lot of applicants spending 95% of the time on their LOM and the other 5% rushing the CV. I do understand why. And also, I would add to the conversation that the CV is an easy way to cut people from the candidate pool.

Imagine from a selection committee's point of view. Visually, a CV is easier on the eyes and brain to read with bullet points, standard layout, and predictability. It is less taxing to skim a CV compared to blocks of texts on an LOM PDF. I previously helped a candidate who had a wonderful LOM but the CV was quite poor. This person was rejected. For the following cycle, we worked on her CV and she received the scholarship.

Of course I cannot and will not say this was the reason why she got in. There are many factors including other applicants and nationalities. However, I am confident the CV revamp helped. Her GPA and professional experiences remained mostly the same.

I have created a masterclass on the CV. It is an hour long with tips and guidance. If you were rejected, I recommend watching the full thing so you understand the fundamentals and how these are applied to the CV.

If you are new to Erasmus Mundus, it would benefit you too. With that said, I would suggest to start from my earlier videos to ensure you 100% understand EMJM, know your programmes, know the requirements, etc. Every year hundreds of applicants jump into making a CV but they don't even know programmes or eligibility. Don't make more work for yourself or increase your chance of being rejected. If you don't like my method or delivery, that is totally fine. Find a mentor or someone who can assist.

I know an hour seems like a lot especially for YouTube. For me though, an hour is better than 10+ hours trying to DIY and backtracking. I tried to make the video short like 10 or 20 minutes but felt I would not be giving the the CV the correct time it needs. Typing everything out would be a novel, and personally I like having the audio and visual together while I am learning.

If you walk away with something, I do appreciate a like and subscribe. The algorithm is what it is... which limits my reach to other ambitious applicants. I am creating some guidance on the LOM + ways to improve your application.

This is NOT a paid product. I am an alum helping out and giving my perspective. This also means I do not sit on any selection committee. I do not guarantee a scholarship. I just share what I learned as someone who did the process alone.

Good luck.

I have seen these questions come up from self-funded people or those who have a fee waiver: Can I get a job? Can I balance work and studies? Will it be hard to find income? How can I support myself?

TLDR: Yes it is hard to find part-time work as an EMJM student.

Long answer: Students move frequently. Most are in one place for maybe 5 to 8 months. Employers do not want to deal with the hiring if they know you will be leaving soon.

Next, language barrier. Employers can hire a local or EU citizen who has language proficiency plus likely other languages. There isn’t an incentive to hire someone with little to no language skills. (The exception might be the UK and Ireland.)

Also, bureaucracy. It often takes weeks or months to receive your social insurance number and/or residency card which is often needed to prove right to work.

Self-funded people: think carefully please. I wouldn’t rely on finding a job considering all of the above.

CAN it be done? Yes.

HAVE previous students found work? Yes.

My point is - it is not easy. Don’t count on it. Find other sources or decline the offer.

No one can tell you what to do. You need to decide for yourself. This is my input as an alum.

If you have specific personal questions, you can DM me.

Many people have been asking me for insider tips. I am working on a variety of videos and resources to help. Below you will find something most people do and why their application is likely to be unsuccessful.

Please enable captions if needed. I did them manually instead of relying on YouTube's generated captions (they are terrible)

On my main feed I can see random posts from various groups. But when I go to the group spaces, the feed is blank and I can’t see any posts there. I tried updating, other devices etc. same issues.

I am seeing new students joining the EMJM network. Congratulations! I wanted to send a reminder to not rely on AI for visa information. Changes often happen when it comes to immigration and residency. AI is not reliable.

Check the websites of the consulates or embassies. They have the current information and requirements. I only used the official sources and received my visas fine. But pay attention please.

People are denied their visas each year and post things like “I was rejected and can’t attend EMJM because ChatGPT told me the wrong info” and I encourage you to do your research. Good luck!
