Old Diver getting back into it with the help of the DD gods.

Hi guys! I’m 68 and not in good shape anymore. I’ve been garbage picking/dumpster diving for my entire life; my mother taught me. I stopped in March 2020. I got sick with this and that and just didn’t have what it took to DD.

All your posts are inspiring me! I just HAD to go out! Before I left the house to go to the place that had been my honey pot for many years, I made a mental note of what I needed and would go into the store for whatever DD didn’t give me. The things I needed/wanted were: milk, some veggies, fruit, a ham for Easter, maybe some other meat.

I was a little disappointed when I got to the dumpster. It seemed to be all garbage and one lonely mango. I thanked god for my favorite fruit and figured that I didn’t go on the right day or time. Next time will be better.

As I’m pulling away, I catch a glimpse of six household sized garbage cans. I got cold milk, a cold spiral ham, fresh green beans, cauliflower, broccoli, lemons, a LOT of strawberries and bananas and different types of peppers, cold chicken breast, avocados, lemons (I started making iced tea because soda is so expensive now) and several bags of oranges. One of my sons has been on an orange kick lately and boy o boy do I have oranges.

I’m sorry I don’t have the energy to make a pretty picture but I’m exhausted from freezing all this stuff. Actually I was tired just driving home, but so happy and grateful for my haul and I owe it to you all for posting your pictures.

May the dumpster gods shine upon you.
