unsure if i should move to a new salon
i’m a first year stylist and i have been working at ulta salon for 7 months. I’m not getting many clients and i have slow days, so i’ve been averaging at about $1300 monthly (commission and tips). I don’t like the workplace at all and I am unhappy
I have been applying to new places and I feel like I have a good chance for a salon, but i’m scared about starting there. This new salon is about 40 minutes away from me by highway/tolls and it starts at 40% commission which is similar to what I make now. Obviously they have no benefits compared to ulta but I am worried that the payout wouldn’t be entirely worth it since i will be paying a lot more in gas.
The good things are that the salon is in a busy populated area that gets tons of walk-ins, and they also have room for me to grow and learn.
I don’t want to make the wrong choice but this is all so new to me and i would appreciate some help, thank you!
